EDUCATION
At BCDC, we proudly celebrate academic achievement by hosting annual graduation ceremonies for students of all ages, both within the church and throughout the community. These events serve as a testament to our commitment to education and the success of our students. To further inspire and motivate our graduates, we invite well-known and accomplished keynote speakers to share their insights and experiences. By doing so, we demonstrate our dedication to providing a supportive and enriching environment for learning and personal growth.

Alternative sentencing program
The BCDC Alternative Sentencing program, in partnership with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, offers individuals with misdemeanor offenses the opportunity to participate in community service at our facility instead of serving time in jail. Through this initiative, over 300 lives have been transformed, as participants have transitioned from a life of crime to becoming exemplary citizens in our community. The program's success lies in its ability to provide individuals with a second chance to contribute positively to society, fostering personal growth and rehabilitation while simultaneously benefiting the local community. Through our collaboration, we are proud to have played a significant role in reshaping the futures of those involved, ultimately creating a safer and more supportive environment for all.

JOB READINESS PROGRAM
BCDC's job readiness program provides individuals with the essential soft skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today's competitive job market. In collaboration with the Chalmers Center, BCDC uses Work Life: a comprehensive approach that includes practical workshops, personalized career coaching, and access to valuable resources. Participants develop the confidence and competence needed to secure meaningful employment and pursue a rewarding career. By focusing on equipping individuals with the skills employers value most, BCDC empowers its participants to navigate the professional world successfully and embark on a path toward long-term success.

annual resource fair
BCDC's annual resource fair plays a crucial role in benefiting the community as a whole through the collaboration of the Mayor's office, local hospitals, nonprofit organizations, and elected officials. By bringing together these key stakeholders, the fair facilitates the provision of essential resources to community members, thereby addressing critical needs such as job opportunities, housing options, and immigration services. Through this collaborative effort, individuals are able to access a wide range of support, guidance, and information, ultimately empowering them to improve their lives and contribute to the overall welfare of the community. The fair serves as a platform for fostering connectivity and support, ultimately leading to a more inclusive and thriving community for all.

IMMIGRANT INTEGRATION PROGRAM
BCDC's immigrant transition program offers a comprehensive support system for newcomers to facilitate their integration into their new community. Through our English language classes and avenues for civic engagement, participants are equipped with the linguistic and social tools necessary to thrive in their new environment. Moreover, the program provides opportunities for volunteer work, enabling immigrants to gain valuable work experience while fostering familiarity with local systems and ways of life. By combining language acquisition with practical experience and community involvement, BCDC's program empowers immigrants to build a strong foundation for success in their new home.

MATERNAL HEALTH + WELLNESS/COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER
BCDC's Maternal Health and Wellness program plays a crucial role in addressing the pressing issue of maternal morbidity and mortality in our community, which unfortunately holds the highest rate in the nation. The initiative's Community Baby Shower serves as a beacon of hope, fostering a celebratory atmosphere while simultaneously providing essential support to high-risk mothers and their partners. Through generous contributions from community partners, the event offers gifts and giveaways, creating an opportunity to disseminate invaluable training and information. By empowering these vulnerable families with knowledge and resources, the program strives to make a tangible difference in the lives of those most in need, ultimately working towards a healthier and safer future for both mothers and babies in our community.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
BCDC's Youth PASS Development program is a comprehensive initiative designed to foster the holistic growth of young individuals. Through personalized coaching, academic support, social engagement, and sports involvement, the program empowers youths to develop personally, academically, socially, and athletically. By providing a well-rounded approach to youth development, the program offers a wide range of opportunities for participants to flourish and reach their full potential. Whether it's through mentorship, educational guidance, community involvement, or athletic training, the Youth PASS Development program equips young people with the tools and experiences they need to thrive in all areas of their lives.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
BCDC's workforce development program is designed to create a clear pathway for the unemployed and underemployed to access gainful employment. By offering vocational and technical training, coupled with strategic partnerships with businesses, the program empowers citizens with low education levels in underserved communities to gain the skills and knowledge needed to secure meaningful employment. Through this initiative, individuals who may have previously faced barriers to entering the workforce will now have the opportunity to acquire valuable skills, gain industry-specific knowledge, and ultimately achieve economic independence. This comprehensive approach not only addresses unemployment and underemployment but also contributes to the overall socioeconomic development of the communities involved.

HEALTH AND MENTAL WELLNESS FAIR
BCDC's Health & Mental wellness fair has significantly benefited the community by providing comprehensive and accessible care free of charge. Through strategic partnerships with hospitals, healthcare providers, and mental wellness professionals, the fair has been able to offer a wide range of healthcare services to the community. This collaborative effort has not only increased access to vital healthcare resources, but has also raised awareness about important health issues, promoted preventive care, and facilitated early intervention. By addressing both physical and mental wellness, BCDC's Health Fair has made a meaningful impact on the overall well-being of the community, ensuring that individuals have the support they need to lead healthier lives.
