WHO WE ARE

MEET PASTOR MULLERY

A FRIEND. A NEIGHBOR. A PASTOR.

Mullery Jean Pierre is a respected senior pastor at Beraca Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. The church, primarily of Haitian descent, boasts a diverse congregation of over 20 nationalities. Under Pastor Jean Pierre’s insightful leadership, the church has grown from a modest 80 members to a thriving community of 1400, evolving into a community-centric institution with over 40 active ministries impacting the United States, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean.

In addition to his pastoral role, Pastor Jean-Pierre holds seats on multiple local, national, and international boards. These include the Converge Worldwide and Converge Northeast Board of Overseers, where he serves over 1800 churches. Locally, he plays an integral role on the 69th Precinct Clergy Council, fostering collaboration between the police, clergy, and community to ensure safe neighborhoods.

In 2001, Pastor Jean-Pierre established the Beraca Community Development Corporation (BCDC), an organization committed to meeting essential community needs. BCDC employs a church-led, transformative approach to uplift communities across the United States, Haiti, Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.

In the United States, BCDC runs a comprehensive program comprising youth development initiatives such as literacy programs and basketball tournaments for young people in NYC Housing and adjacent communities resulting with the finals being played at the Barclays Center. They also have a job readiness, a workforce development initiative designed to equip the underserved with the skills necessary for gainful employment, and a community beautification project that includes neighborhood cleanups and tree planting. Additionally, BCDC provides essential services to immigrants, such as English language courses, societal orientation classes, and assistance in accessing resources. In Haiti, BCDC operates through three offices, using these bases to train 3,500 key regional pastors and leaders. Through micro-loan and motorcycle taxi programs, they have facilitated the creation of over 2,000 jobs within their network of 10,000 churches. These churches act as community centers, distributing resources during crisis periods and natural disasters. In addition, BCDC has constructed eight homes in the city of Kavayon that are resistant to both hurricanes and earthquakes.
Recognizing the church’s potential role in addressing racial disparity in the United States, Pastor Jean-Pierre launched United Praise NYC. This initiative aspires to bridge cultural and ethnic divides, encouraging the church to spearhead efforts towards unity, solidarity, and racial reconciliation. United Praise NYC organizes large-scale events featuring internationally acclaimed Christian artists, promoting racial reconciliation.

In November 2021, Pastor Jean-Pierre joined NYC Mayor Eric Adam’s Clergy Transition Team. He has also contributed to the US State Department round table discussions on Haiti.

Realizing the importance of homeownership and entrepreneurship, Pastor Jean-Pierre established the Business Community Group Management (BCGM) for the purpose of providing workshops for first-time home buyers and budding entrepreneurs. BCGM also purchases, renovates and resells property.

Among his many accolades, Pastor Jean-Pierre has received a Humanitarian Excellence Award from The United Nations, a Peace Ambassador Award from The European Union, and a Congressional Record from US House Minority Leader, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries. He has also obtained numerous local recognitions for his services to the community.

On a personal note, Pastor Jean-Pierre finds his greatest joy in family. He has been happily married to his wife, Cacheta, for 35 years. Together, they are proud parents of six children and grandparents to seven grandchildren.
